I recently was talking with the IP coordinator from Simcoe and he shared an article outlining the importance of properly sharpened skates for new skaters. Equipment is designed to protect the player. Improperly fitted or broken equipment can hinder the players ability or lead to injury. Mouth guards are designed to reduce the possibility of concussion along with protecting the teeth and mouth. Younger players may find ‘all-in-one’ equipment easier to put on and wear.
