In our second meeting in 2 weeks - the Wildcats got off to an early start - scoring 2 goals early in the 1st period, and we were down 2 - 0 again. After the Lil Devils settled down, got focused on the game plan - we started to take the game back over.
Several shots from all lines, and focus on getting to rebound was the task - and everyone did their part to make the rest of the 1st and 2nd period very exciting. We just could not solve the Wildcats goalie as he took most of the shots and covered them up not letting out any rebounds.
Late in the 1st period Tristen got on the board with a shot from the corner that went 5 hole on the goalie, and sat just in the net as it looked like it rested on the goal line. For reassurance Brady smacked it in to the back of the net.
Then late in the 2nd Tristen bounced the puck off the boards to clear the Wildcat defence to get out of our end and had a 2 on 1 going with Austin down deep into the Wildcats zone. After the shoot and digging at the smothered puck - Austin managed to poke it free for the Devils tying Goal!
Throughout the game everyone worked really hard with lots of shots, and passing the puck around - as we played most of the game in the Wildcats end. Defence were strong again tonight, and very good back checking when we needed it from the forwards!
With just under 4 minutes left in the 3rd period we strengthened things up on all the lines, and Dominick managed to break free out of the neutral zone with the puck.... he drove to the Wildcats zone with all his team mates following him for the rebound - No worries as Dominick lifted a high wrist shot over the Goalie for the go ahead goal, and eventually the Game Winner!
Very exciting game... and a good pump up... going into a Tournament in Langton this weekend!
