After much discussion and in consultation with our local health unit the Delhi Hockey Moms have come to a very difficult decision and will be CANCELLING this year's tournament.
Please know that we are struggling with this decision and did not make it lightly!
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been monitoring what has been occurring in other centres (many have already cancelled their tournaments) as well took into account that OMHA could stop play and tournaments at any time as the Alliance have already suspended play -allowing practices only. We have also reviewed our counties current rules and regulations related to COVID 19 protocol and arena operations and have been in consultation with our local Health Unit.
After speaking with our local Health unit today, we felt we had no other option but to cancel this year due to the significant rise in COVID-19 cases in our area this past weekend: over 120 cases reported this past weekend alone. We have been advised that the potential for increased rules and regulations is likely to occur, due to the numbers rising so quickly which would in turn have a significant impact on our ability to offer a safe and fun tournament experience for all.
Thus is the world we are currently living in; we simply do know from day to day what rules or regulations will be implemented but do know that things are not looking good for the immediate future and therefore came to the hard decision to cancel this year's tournament.
We know how excited you and your players were and cannot express how sorry we are to have had to make this decision.
We kindly ask that you confirm you have received and read this email to allow us to ensure we have not missed anyone/team.
REFUNDS:
Cheques: Any team who paid by cheque, please know that our treasurer will be shredding them unless you prefer to have it mailed back you: please advise ASAP
E-transfer: The Delhi Hockey Moms treasurer or myself will be reaching out to teams who paid by e-transfer to determine which email the refund should be sent to.
